From 0:12 to 0:26 you can see how the set looks how I planned and the cameras are where I wanted them to be. Although, on the day I did change them to be bit wider to get more interesting close-ups on objects and the actors.0:29 to 0:48 you can see how all the shots are working how I planned with the mid shots and close ups on cameras 1 and 3, either side of camera 2 who is staying on that wide shot. I did change the wide shot to be a little bit closer in, but still getting the entire sofa and chair. I changed it because I was scared that a little move of the camera would mean that you would see the edge of the set or the lights and I wanted there to be full immersion into the story. I also thought with a cover shot you could see the reactions and faces a little bit more. |
From 3:24 to 5:14 you can see me fully preparing shot 7 where the camera pans up from Rob's shoes, to his torso with the knife and then his head. I even use the same word of 'looking emotionless' that is also in the script and storyboard. This shot turned out exactly how I wanted it to in the storyboard, although I did make my cameraperson (Charlotte) go a bit faster so the audience wouldn't get bored. You can clearly see the she's then the bloodied knife thinking who's it gonna be and then the reveal to be Rob is brilliant with him just staring down emotionless at his dad, I just love the shot.

These shots went really well and I didn't have to change much at all, they turned out exactly how I planned. The wine bottle was in a bit more darkness than I would've liked however, I think that starts the sequence off with a bit of eeriness. The candle shot proved a little hard to do because I was operating the camera as well as blowing the candle out, so for a couple takes it was a little shaky, but I soon go the hang of it. |

Costume - Meaning is created through the black clothing worn by all the actors which easily denotes the fact that they've all been to a funeral. From Rob wearing an expensive suit, the audience can connote the fact that he is quite well off with a high paying job. He could also be quite serious and uptight due to the fact that he is in a suit and the others are more smart/casual. By the fact that James is only wearing a polo shirt and black jeans, you can connote that he is less well off than his brother and maybe is a more laid back person.
|
Close- Up - conveys Rob's emotionless thoughts about his father being dead, lets the audience see him very close up to give them the best chance of guessing whether he really was the killer. The close-up also builds dramatic tension and emotion for the audience and starts the episode off with a real cliffhanger
|
Wide Shot of the sofa - connoting how far they've grown apart and how awkward it is for them to be together. If it were a close-up, the action would feel more intimate, however this feels on-edge and uneasy for the audience.
